Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of B12 do you use?
At Modern Medicine, we only use natural, bio-identical forms of B12. Synthetic forms of B12 are often used in over-the-counter products. While they may be less expensive, they are poorly absorbed and ineffective, especially for someone with MTHFR mutations.
How much does it cost?
B12:
Established Patient: $30
Non-established Patient: $40
BWell:
Established Patient: $40
Non-established Patient: $50
Do I have to see a provider before getting one?
No
If I have the MTHFR mutation, is it right for me?
Definitely. We are using the methylated form of B12.
Does this replace my oral methylation support supplement?
No. You still need the other ingredients found in your oral supplement.
Can you overdose on B12?
No. It is water soluble, so any excess is removed in the urine.
Is it a big needle/Does it hurt?
It is just like an antibiotic or steroid injection you’ve probably gotten before.
Are there any side effects?
There is a very low risk of side effects, but those could include: soreness at the injection site, GI upset, or muscle cramping. Call if any of these occur.
